We are
proud to participate in the
University of Maryland CMPS
Corporate Scholars Program.

program, please visit
the program's website. |

Interns start by spending time in several
of UCG's technology areas to help identify the best match
with your interests and skill sets. Returning interns choose
an area in which they would like to hone their talents.
Regardless of the area of work, you will immediately be
mentored by caring technology experts with real-world opportunities
and challenges.
DEVELOPMENT
– Join top developers in creating
customized applications, web sites,
and solutions using the latest Microsoft,
J2EE, and Macromedia tools and
innovative data search technologies.
Your solutions will communicate
with Microsoft SQL, Oracle, or
DB2 databases. You will be encouraged
to creatively provide software
solutions to real business needs.
SOFTWARE TESTING
– We dare you to break our software! You will test
every feature of our software products to make sure our
customers never have problems with our web and distributed
applications. You will report bugs then re-test the applications
after fixes are installed.
SYSTEMS –
Help build and maintain our Rockville Data Center servers
and networks. Work with a wide range of hardware, from
IBM rack-mount servers running all flavors of Microsoft
operating systems and SQL, to IBM RS-6000 servers running
DB2, to Sun Servers fronting Oracle databases to Stratus
systems, all over our Cisco switches and firewalls. You
will assemble new hardware and monitor systems to prevent
systems outages.
TECHNICAL SUPPORT
– Help provide technical support to our 1000 UCG
employees. You will communicate with employees via phone
and email to identify and resolve desktop and technical
issues. You will upgrade desktop hardware and software
and you will help train new employees in the use of Microsoft
office applications.
If you
have graduated or are about to graduate
from High School and “get” computers
and technology, you should seriously
consider a UCG internship. Not all
of our interns are pursuing computer
science degrees; you just have to
love computers and technology.
You should also ask your school guidance
counselor about how you can receive
academic credit for your work at UCG.
Most interns start
with the summertime program and always
have an option of working part-time
during the school year. Our flex-hours
accommodate your schedule; our always-casual
work environment won't stress your
wardrobe. We will even put you to
work as a temporary full-time employee
during school breaks and extended
holidays if your schedule allows
and your budget requires.
Some final things you should consider -
interns completing 3 years of internship have always been
offered full-time employment on college graduation. Full-time
employment opportunities in Software Testing and Technical
Support are usually available to interns deciding not to
continue with college.
As you can see from the intern stories above,
UCG technology internships can result in rapid movement
into management in UCG technology and can provide a financially
rewarding career path. This could be your opportunity for
a challenging and rewarding career. Send us your resume
today at jobs@ucg.com.
